Allowed length of vehicles on German roads: the combination of a tractor vehicle with a dolly and a semi-trailer, a type 3 lengthened truck, cannot be longer than 25.25 metre. As a participant in the nationwide field test of lengthened vehicles, we have had experience with these extra-long vehicles since an early stage and have been using them in regular traffic for several years.
Type 3 lengthened trucks reduce CO2 emissions by 20% per transported unit as compared to standard trucks. They also have a much shorter braking distance, which is why they increase safety on the roads. Since two lengthened trucks can replace three normal ones, these vehicles also offer considerable cost advantages to our customers. The use of the vehicles is only possible on the so-called positive network of the Federal Republic.

With regular commuter traffic, which entails a high volume of bulky goods, lengthened trucks can show their advantages particularly well. We therefore often use them to deliver to customers with direct return of empties (e.g. OEMs) or in traffic between plants and production networks.
